Creating more affordable housing developments with dedicated homes for people with disabilities and families at risk of or experiencing homelessness is critical to supporting long-term housing stability. The aptly named Safe Harbor II broke ground last week and will offer 39 permanent supportive housing units and one manager's unit to the Wilmington neighborhood of Los Angeles, CA once completed.
Holos Communities and TPC Homes have partnered together to develop Safe Harbor II. The affordable community will include on-site supportive services provided by The People Concern, a social service agency that uses trauma-informed care, Housing First, and harm reduction to assist individuals experiencing chronic homelessness. The affordable community will focus on providing housing to families and children who will enjoy the on-site playground, dog run, and garden with drought tolerant landscaping.
A special shout out to our Lizzet Alvarez for attending and speaking on NEF's behalf at the groundbreaking event! We can't wait to see this development transform into homes for those who need them most.
