A couple of weeks ago, our partners at Resource Center celebrated the official opening of Oak Lawn Place, an affordable housing development in the heart of Dallas' Oak Lawn neighborhood.
Resource Center's mission is to pursue societal equity by proudly offering LGBTQIA+ affirming resources designed to improve health and wellness, strengthen families and communities, and provide transformative education and advocacy. To bring the project to life, Resource Center worked closely with Matthews Southwest on the planning and development of North Texas' first LGBTQ-affirming affordable senior housing center.
The development brings 84 units of high-quality and affordable housing and meant to provide stability and community for LGBTQIA+ seniors 55+. While LGBTQ+ individuals are a primary focus of the development, Oak Lawn Place does not exclusively serve individuals who identify as members of the community and its doors are open to all applicants who may need a home, showing true inclusivity.
