Congratulations to our new partners at Pacific Housing Assistance Corporation (PHAC) on the grand opening of Na Hale Makoa in Waikoloa, HI! As the first mixed-income rental community on Hawaiʻi Island, it was no small feat to create access to 140 units in order to combat our national housing crisis.
These high quality homes spread across 15 buildings sit on 10.3 acres of County of Hawaiʻi land and serve as affordable and workforce housing for those earning between 30-140% of the area median income.
As Governor Josh Green said, "Nā Hale Makoa allows our local families to stay strongly connected in the Waikoloa community without being priced out. This is a testament to the power of public-private collaboration to address the pressing needs for more affordable workforce housing in our state.”
NEF echoes the Governor's remarks and recognizes the resilient efforts and intentional actions that made Na Hale Makoa a reality. We hope to continue working with our first-time partners at PHAC!
