Last week National Equity Fund partner, Full Circle Communities (FCC), celebrated the groundbreaking of their new affordable development Torrence Place, a new construction three-story, 48-unit building designed for low-income households, as well as veterans and people with disabilities.
The development is located in Lansing, Illinois, approximately 22 miles south of downtown Chicago, on 2.26 acres of land with a former office building on the site that will be demolished. The building was originally a bank and subsequently housed the Christian Community Health Center (CCHC) administrative staff. The development will include 3,344 SF of administrative space for CCHC, who will provide on-site supportive services to tenants.
Residents will have access to a variety of on-site facilities such as a fitness room and community center. Unit amenities will include universal design features (clear floor space with minimum 5′ radius, toilets with grab bars, etc.) as well as ENERGY STAR appliances, microwaves and kitchen pantries. Torrence Place will also qualify for an Enterprise Green Communities certification.
Developer FCC is a Chicago-based non-profit with 20 years of experience in the affordable housing industry. NEF has partnered with FCC on ten prior developments, three of which are in Chicago. Full Circle’s mission is to expand access to quality affordable housing through preservation and development, thoughtful design and the provision of significant and targeted supportive services to residents and the surrounding communities. The experienced developers at FCC understand the importance of going beyond housing to provide further support to the community, a mindset we value and support at NEF. We are proud to have worked with FCC on Torrence Place and look forward to growing our partnership further.
