Congratulations to our partners at the Housing Authority of Cook County on the groundbreaking at Otto Veterans Square in Chicago Heights, IL! This will be the first new construction to result from the Downtown/East Side Choice Neighborhoods Plan. Otto Veterans Square will provide 82 apartments to Veterans and households earning 50% or less than the Area Median Income (AMI). All units will receive Project-Based Voucher assistance from the Housing Authority.
The affordable housing complex is being built on a portion of the former Franciscan St. James Hospital campus and will use the land in service of safe, stable, and affordable housing for residents who have dedicated their lives to our country. The development has been designed with the special needs of Veterans in mind and will include a fitness center, media room, walking paths, space for community gardens, and more.
