Poupard Place Expands Affordable Housing Opportunities in Northbrook, IL

Poupard Place
July 09, 2026

Poupard Place is now welcoming residents in Northbrook, Illinois! Adding 48 affordable, permanent supportive housing units in a high-cost rental area is a significant step toward expanding affordable housing opportunities in the community. Developed by Housing Opportunity Development Corporation (HODC), Poupard Place provides stable homes for low-income families, with a preference for individuals with disabilities and families that include a member with a disability. The building’s name honors Tom Poupard, who served the Village of Northbrook for three decades as a city planner, and engraved bricks at the site share messages of hope and welcome from the community.

This development serves households earning up to 60% of the Area Median Income (AMI) and helps residents build long-term stability and connect with the support they need to thrive. Poupard Place offers amenities including a community room, play lot, laundry facilities, and accessible, energy efficient apartments. Through partnerships with Thresholds, Evanston Township, and Connections for the Homeless, residents also have access to onsite supportive services that promote independence and well-being.

Danny Gutman from NEF joined project partners and community members to celebrate the grand opening of this exciting new development. NEF is proud to invest in developments like Poupard Place that increase access to affordable housing and create stronger, more connected communities.
