Congratulations to our partners at The Neighborhood Developers, Inc (TND) and Causeway Development on the ribbon cutting for 1005 Broadway in Chelsea, MA! It's exciting to see this longtime brownfield site redeveloped as an affordable housing building with new green space and access to the Mill Creek.
1005 Broadway provides 38 affordable homes for families earning below 30% and 60% of the Area Median Income (AMI). Residents are not only connected to the beautiful Chelsea waterfront but are also near major public transit routes to jobs and services in the Boston and North Shore areas. With energy efficiency and utility cost savings in mind, the development has been built to Passive House standards (using 95% less energy than other buildings) and includes solar panels.
Earlier in the spring, TND unveiled the "Welcome to Chelsea" mural that reflects the colorful community and greets locals and visitors alike as they travel across Mill Creek and from the nearby parkway from Revere. The mural was made possible by a grant from Chelsea Cultural Council.
