Our final 2024 Charles L. Edson Award Winner for Green and Healthy Housing is Vista Verde (also known as Alta Verde), which was honored at the ceremony in Washington D.C. last week.
To tackle the challenge of providing affordable workforce housing while being sustainable, Breckenridge, Colorado hired Gorman & Company to build Vista Verde, an affordable housing development with 80 units serving households earning between 30%, 50%, 60%, and 100% of the area median income (AMI). Located a few miles north of the resort town's central business district, Vista Verde achieved a net-zero designation by installing solar panels, which means the building produces enough energy onsite to offset energy consumption.
Congratulations to our partners at Gorman & Company, the Town of Breckenridge, and the investors involved in making this outstanding affordable housing development possible!
