Sending a big congratulations to our partners at Xenolith Partners on winning the Community Impact Competition for their project The Rise. Located in Brownsville, Brooklyn, The Rise is a 72-unit mixed-use development that offers affordable and supportive housing for formerly incarcerated individuals and families. Xenolith collaborated with the Women's Prison Association and the Brownsville Partnership to bring this project to life, which just broke ground in November 2022!
All apartments will be affordable to households earning at or below 60 percent of AMI and 47 apartments will be set aside for criminal-justice involved women and their families. Approximately 10,000 square feet of green space will be available for resident and broader community use, as well as a rooftop farm and greenhouse. From a supportive standpoint, job training, health and wellness care and mental health services will all be available for residents.
Thank you to the New York Housing Conference for this incredible honor and thank you to our partners at Xenolith Partners for their commitment and dedication to providing affordable housing and supportive housing that helps vulnerable communities thrive and achieve economic empowerment.
